Co-founding Solvus Global in 2017, Sean Kelly, Aaron Birt, and Diran Apelian set forth to revolutionize the manufacturing industry with their technological ventures. Sean’s passion for sustainability and renewable resources coupled with his eagerness to solve problems is the perfect combination when undertaking an engineering startup such as Solvus Global.

As Chief Operations Officer, Sean manages the day-to-day execution of projects at Solvus Global with a “boots on the ground” approach. Drawing on Sean’s leadership skills, he’s able to create a durable, supportive ecosystem within the office and on the manufacturing floor. On the forefront of growing the company, Sean has mastered the art of personnel development and growth. Under Sean’s guidance, Solvus Global will continue to recruit, retain, and raise-up an organization and team that will drive economic growth, innovation, and success.

Sean has hit his stride with Solvus Global. His recognition with the SME 30 Under 30 Class of 2017 and WBJ 40 Under Forty Class of 2021 has certainly proven Sean as a force to be reckoned with in the world of manufacturing and business excellence. Before finding his niche in materials science and engineering, Sean completed his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI). From there, Sean went on to receive his Masters and PhD in Materials Science & Engineering from WPI. Sean was named a recipient of the 2015 Recycling Research Foundation Award from the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI) through his research with the Center for Resource Recovery and Recycling. Today, Dr. Sean Kelly wears many hats as a COO, researcher, businessman, professor of practice, co-founder, and mentor.

When not at work, you will find Sean on the golf course or working on a project around the house. From keeping up with the dog pen he built for his pups, Stella and Oakley, to learning a new skill that adds value to his home, Sean makes sure to keep busy. Sean is an avid fan of all local Boston sports teams and really enjoys spending time family and friends, especially his better half, Ashlynn.
